At its most prestigous ceremony the LAPD will
be awarding its highest honor, the Medal of
Valor, earned by cops who have “distinguished
themselves by conspicuous bravery or heroism
above and beyond,” to 10 of the SWAT officers
involved in their 2005 assault on Sr. Pena’s auto
shop on Avalon & 104. $25k sponsors a table by

Mayor Villaraigosa attended the funeral promising
to “uncover every fact,” but there is no report
& the family’s lawsuit is on a shelf while
Bratton seeks a coroner to deny his shooters’
bullets killed 18 month old Susie.
The Police Commissioners, appointed by the
mayor, voted to approve the awards.
Since Rampart, LAPD is under Federal Consent
Decree jurisdiction to the U.S. Dept of Justice &
Atty Genl Eric Holder, ducking a Justice Dept
lawsuit for the "pattern and practice" of civil
rights violations by LAPD officers.
In May 2006, U.S. District Judge Gary Feess extended
the consent decree for another three
years because all the requirements had not
been met...
